Dr. Cletus Babu, the Founder and Chairman of SCAD emerged as social worker after serving as a Catholic Priest for 7 years in Southern Tamil Nadu. He started his rural development service at Cheranmahadevi in the year 1985. Even from his very young age he had a burning desire to help the underprivileged people in the society. His student life gave chance to meet socially isolated and vulnerable people like leprosy patients, disabled children, widows, deserted women etc. So he wished to become a priest in order to serve this society. Later he decided to choose a normal life and do exceeding and exemplary service to this subjugated people. Dr. Amali Cletus Babu gave hands to stand with Dr. Cletus Babu as a life partner in the year 1988 and together they rendered their life for the upliftment of the socially disadvantaged people.

A humanitarian, Dr. S. Cletus Babu has been continuously striving to create a society based on social sensitivity, equality, justice and self-reliance. Adopting a humane approach, he has been empowering communities through education and social upliftment. His service has been well recognized by all sect of the community that gave him many honors and awards.
